Footy Enigmas

One of many of Chris Rees’s community side projects

He is a graphic designer, based in Hobart, who created our logo. He’s an honourable and ethical man, with a dry wit and charitable heart (especially for causes to do with Indigenous welfare). Much about Chris is admirable, especially his deeply considered appreciation of typeface.

He makes words sing, by virtue of his design.

But don’t take our word for it. Have a look at his website, his creations. Not sure how much freelance work he does these days, but fortunate are those who offer him a commission. They’re in safe hands.

(Although his kicking for goal isn’t as it once was).

Opus in wood

One-off handmade creations for discerning customers

He is a timber craftsman, a furniture-maker, based in Brunswick, with a gentle soul and a mischievous smile. We first met on a house demolition, where he was pulling-apart out-buildings with such care and respect, greater talents were self-evident. Mostly, they’re to do with bespoke furniture, artisanal designs that respect the grain and texture of wood. He looks after his tools. Works in harmony with materials. Wastes nothing.

He also has a thing for Bob Marley.

With a hammer and chisel in his hands, wonderful things are made. Works of art, using nature’s gifts. Look him up. Start a conversation.
